According to the WHO, violence is the direct or indirect use of power and force against an individual or group in society to cause physical and psychological harm. Today, many articles are written about violence that is seen, unseen or ignored. We are confronted with many types of violence, from bullying to the attitude of anti-refugee TV programmes, computer games, as well as direct or subliminal messages coming from different directions. Violence has different effects on our lives. However, I am mainly thinking about the violence that describes the 4th power, which is used by the media. In recent years there have been many different ways of communicating. Communication technology has developed in many ways. So people now have different ways of getting information. They use the internet and social media sites rather than newspapers. Because of this widespread technology, people can get information anywhere, anytime. This new technology gives people the opportunity to create their own news, where they are the witnesses. People’s habits have changed without them being aware of it. All these seemingly infinite sources allow people to get the information they need easily, but on the other hand, problems arise that lead to biased, partial information.
