Peeping Self – II Anywhere is lost

Anywhere is lost

From the series, PEEPING SELF
since 2014

What motivates people to take photographs?
Is it to be present in the moment, meticulously documenting the unfolding experience and enhancing it through images, or to transcend the moment itself through the power of images?

What drives us to pick up a camera during our journeys – is it to capture the essence of the journey, to highlight the beauty of landscapes, or simply to fulfil tourist expectations?

Are the photos in this series captured to preserve memories in frozen frames, to revel in the scenic beauty, or for the sake of documentation and sometimes manipulation? Frankly, I’m not quite sure. The motivation behind this act remains multifaceted. It seems to be a fusion of aspects that I may not have fully grasped yet.

And when it comes to the journey itself, is it the primary objective or merely a pretext?
Does the desire to record precede the journey, or does the journey itself unfold as an excuse for this pursuit?

These photos were captured simultaneously by accessing CCTV cameras in various parts of the world. And the urge to record continues.
